Thor: Ragnarok Superpower of STEM Challenge now open to high school girls

As the parent of a teen girl, strong believer in girl power, advocate for STEM education, and fan of Disney and Marvel, I’m thrilled to hear about the new Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok  – “Superpower of STEM Challenge.” It’s an awesome opportunity for girls to show their superpowers and their super brains!

High school girls who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the U.S. between ages 15-18 are encouraged to use their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills to create an original Do-It-Yourself project that can be replicated by others. It should make the world a safer, healthier, and happier place.

Girls can win an amazing trip to the world premiere of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering, and the opportunity to appear on Good Morning America!

Here is a video with Cate Blanchett (“Hela”) that has more information:

The contest was announced just yesterday and lasts until September 23rd. We all know that girls can do pretty amazing things in four weeks time.

To learn more information about the contest, please visit www.marvelstudiosstemchallenge.com. Best of luck to all entrants! I can’t wait to see what you come up with to improve our world!

Thor: Ragnarok debuts in theaters nationwide on November 3rd. Here’s what Marvel Studios says about the film:

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

“Thor: Ragnarok” is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
