Christmas wishes for you and yours

The snow is falling softly outside and I’m marveling at my good fortune to have a beautiful white Christmas Eve. It was one of my secret wishes for the holidays.

Here are a few other, not-so-secret wishes for you and yours.

I hope that your holidays are full of comfort and joy.

I hope that you remember your presence is the best present of all for those who love you.

I hope that you give and receive some seriously good holiday hugs.

I hope that the songs and sights and tastes of the season bring special delight to all your senses, and that you can take a moment to enjoy and savor them.

I hope you remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be special.

I hope that at the end of the day you have a full tummy and full heart. But if your celebration does not resemble a Norman Rockwell painting, please know that you’re not alone.

I wish I had words of wisdom that would ease heartache and/or disappointment for whom this is a tough time.

I’m afraid I don’t know how to make it easier for you, but here’s what I do know:

People are complicated.

Families are messy.

Holidays can be hard.

It’s okay to be sad.

You are not alone.

Tomorrow is another day.

I love what Caroline Kennedy says about Christmas memories and how sometimes the remembrances of the less-than-perfect occasions can be part of the glue that holds people together.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
